Personality tests are a simple way for people to self-report their preferences. They’ve been shown to be good predictors of whether two people will get along. But beyond that, they’re a tool for seeking out the type of person you want to meet in that moment.
The same is true for careers. Certain jobs are a better fit for certain personality types. But there is no single type that’s good for lawyers, it depends on what kind of law. The same is true for any industry. Every field requires many different types of people performing different roles.
The challenge with most personality testing is that it tells you a great story but leaves you with no actions to take.
Personality.fyi is centered around actions.
Here are the types of people you should date, befriend, and work with.
Here are the jobs that would fit your life.
Here’s what it means when a certain type says X.
A hard truth: most of us fit genuinely well with only two or three personality types. Most people will not be a perfect fit for you as romantic partners, friends, or colleagues.
This makes personality testing all the more important for having a fulfilling life. It’s a tool for finding your tribe. We hope you find yours, in both your personal and your professional life.

Frequently asked questions
What is MBTI?
MBTI (Myers–Briggs Type Indicator) is a framework that sorts personalities into 16 types based on four preferences: Introvert/Extravert, iNtuitive/Sensing, Thinking/Feeling, and Judging/Perceiving. Each type code (like INTJ or ENFP) describes how someone gets energy, takes in information, makes decisions, and structures their life.
How accurate is the MBTI personality test?
MBTI is a useful framework, not a scientific classification. It captures real patterns in how people think and behave, but individuals don’t fit cleanly into 16 boxes and any single type description will feel partially wrong. Use it as a lens for self-reflection and communication, not a personality verdict. For more scientifically defensible personality measurement, look at the Five-Factor Model (Big Five).
How long does the MBTI test take?
The personality.fyi test takes about 60 seconds. You paste or type a short passage of your writing and the system analyzes word choice and phrasing patterns against each of the 16 types. If you already know your type, you can skip the test and pick manually.
Is the MBTI test free?
Yes, the test is free and requires no signup. The static content (16 type guides, 136 compatibility pages, 30+ career guides) is also free. AI-powered features like Career Planning and Ask a Type have a free tier then a $9/month subscription for continued use.
What does INTJ, ENFP, and similar codes stand for?
The four letters represent four preferences. Letter 1: I = Introvert / E = Extravert. Letter 2: N = iNtuitive / S = Sensing. Letter 3: T = Thinking / F = Feeling. Letter 4: J = Judging / P = Perceiving.
What is the rarest MBTI type?
INFJ is generally considered the rarest, estimated at roughly 1–2% of the population. INTJ, ENTJ, and ENFJ are also uncommon at 2–4% each. ISTJ is one of the most common, at around 11–14%.
Can my MBTI type change over time?
Your core preferences tend to remain stable across adulthood, but test results can shift based on mood, life phase, and which aspects of yourself you’re currently emphasizing. If you retake the test a year apart and get a different result on one axis, you’re probably close to the midpoint on that preference.
